Career BiographyBenedict R. Heinz is an associate of the firm Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy P.C., where he practices in the firm's Workers' Compensation and Employment Law Departments. Mr. Heinz joined the Philadelphia office of Zarwin Baum in September of 2008. His practice includes workers' compensation, employment law, general liability defense, and commercial matters. Before joining the firm, Benedict served as Assistant Counsel to the Pennsylvania State Police Gaming Enforcement Office under the Governor's Office of General Counsel after completing a clerkship for Commissioner Robert Krebs of the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Appeal Board. Mr. Heinz is a member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, as well as the Workers' Compensation sections of both associations. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Pennsylvania. Mr. Heinz earned his law degree in 2006 at the Harrisburg Campus of Widener University School of Law, where he served as a writer for the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Administrative Law Journal. His close proximity to the Capitol during his law school career enabled him to gain experience through an internship with the Governor's Office of General Counsel at the Chief Counsel Offices of the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole and the Pennsylvania State Police from 2004 through 2006. Upon graduating, Mr. Heinz was awarded a certificate from Widener's Law and Government Institute. Mr. Heinz earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 2003, where he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi Literary Fraternity and coordinated the University's community outreach program which provided technology and web design services for local non-profit organizations.
