Career BiographyMitchell S. Kaplan is the managing shareholder of the firm. During Mr. Kaplan’s tenure as managing shareholder, the firm has almost doubled the number of attorneys, added additional practice groups, expanded its offices in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and opened a satellite office in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He has been an attorney at Zarwin Baum for his entire legal career. Mr. Kaplan primarily focuses his practice in the area of casualty defense, particularly trucking and transportation, automobile liability, commercial property liability, professional liability and insurance coverage. He is retained by an impressive list of insurance carriers and third-party claim administrators to represent their insureds. In 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 Mr. Kaplan was selected for inclusion in Pennsylvania “Super Lawyers” as published in Philadelphia Magazine, an honor received by only 5% of Pennsylvania lawyers each year. Mr. Kaplan has been profiled in the Philadelphia Business Journal and been featured in articles appearing in the Legal Intelligencer and USA Today. Since 2004, Mr. Kaplan has served on the faculty at Temple University as an adjunct professor in the masters program at the graduate School of Communications where he teaches “Legal Issues in Communications Management.” In addition, Mr. Kaplan often is selected by attorneys and insurance carriers to serve as a mediator or arbitrator. He regularly serves as a Judge Pro Tempore and an arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Kaplan has lectured on numerous insurance and casualty issues for the National Business Institute, HMS Continuing Legal Education and to insurance carriers and claim administrators across the country. PersonalMr. Kaplan is a devoted Philadelphia sports fan. He also is a passionate rock music fan and attends numerous concerts at various venues each year. |
