Career BiographyPaul A. Downing is an associate in Zarwin Baum’s Personal Injury practice group. He primarily handles plaintiff’s cases involving medical malpractice and nursing home neglect and abuse. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Downing worked for the Defender Association of Philadelphia and clerked for the Honorable M. Teresa Sarmina in the Trial Division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Downing earned his law degree in 2010 from the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University. He was a member of the law school’s award-winning National Trial Team, and was a Regional Champion and National Quarter-Finalist in the American Association for Justice’s Trial Advocacy Competition. Mr. Downing was also the recipient of the Hon. Ethan Allen Doty Scholarship, the James J. Manderino Award for Trial Advocacy, and received several citations for distinguished class participation and an outstanding oral argument. Mr. Downing grew up in Oklahoma and earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Oklahoma State University in 2002. He then moved to Anchorage, Alaska and worked in advertising for several years before coming to Philadelphia for law school.
