Plans to Work on New Zoning Code with Philadelphia City Zoning Commission As Newly Elected Chair of Philadelphia Bar Association's Real Property Section

PHILADELPHIA , Pa. , November 20, 2007 - As the incoming chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Real Property Section, working with Philadelphia's City Zoning Commission to help shape the city's new Zoning Code will be a priority for Michael M. Goss , Esq.

"We will endeavor to have input into the new Zoning Code being established in Philadelphia by the newly appointed Zoning Commission," Goss said. "I hope to continue the excellent work of my predecessors. We will continue some of the projects already started and will establish new ones."

Goss is a member of the real estate practice area at Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy P.C . of Philadelphia.

"Michael's many years of experience and expertise in real estate law make him the ideal chairperson of the Philadelphia Bar's Real Property Section," said Mitchell S. Kaplan , the firm's managing shareholder. "His leadership will have a positive impact on other lawyers practicing real estate and real property law."

"Our firm is lucky to have had Michael join us about 18 months ago," said Kenneth J. Fleisher , shareholder at Zarwin Baum and a former chair of the Real Property Section. "His exceptional abilities as a commercial attorney are the result of his knowledge of the law, his understanding of and experience in business and real estate matters, his ability to get to the heart of an issue quickly, and his unfailingly upbeat and 'can-do' personality. Perhaps his greatest talent is to make all the parties in a transaction feel as if they have gotten the best deal possible, while never compromising the goals of his client. This earns him both the loyalty and confidence of his client and the respect and admiration of his opposing counsel."

Goss has also chaired the Mid-Sized Law Firm Management Committee for the Philadelphia Bar Association and has lectured for the National Business Institute on various real estate issues.

The Philadelphia Bar Association's Real Property Section provides members with opportunities to meet, network and share expertise with other lawyers practicing real property law. The Section maintains committees serving members who focus their practice in specific areas of the law, such as condominiums and cooperatives, construction contracts, eminent domain and appraisals, financing of real estate, landlord and tenant, local government, taxation affecting real estate, title insurance, sales and settlements, and zoning and land use. Members of the Section frequently offer and organize continuing legal education programs for the real estate professional on a wide variety of topics, as well as opportunities for cross-professional networking through its Joint Committee of Lawyers and Realtors.

Goss has been with Zarwin Baum for almost two years and is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania . He has extensive experience in real estate, corporate, estates, and commercial litigation matters and has been instrumental in representing business clients and providing practical business advice. In addition to his vast real estate knowledge, he has handled complicated commercial litigation issues involving breach of contract, violations of trade secrets, and restrictive covenants.

He also has served as a chairperson of a Hearing Committee for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board. He is a past recipient of the Justice Brennan Award for his pro bono work and has served as a volunteer for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, where he received the Michael Coleman Award for his achievements.

Martindale Hubbell, a national legal publication that rates attorneys, gave Goss its highest rating. Law and Politics Magazine selected him as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" for three years in a row.

Goss received his law degree from Villanova University , and his B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State University .

He resides with his wife in Ventnor , NJ and Ft. Lauderdale , FL.
