Zarwin Baum Adds Prominent Zoning/Land Use and Governmental Affairs Shareholder

Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer & Toddy, P.C., today announced that Darwin R. Beauvais has joined the Firm as a shareholder. He will become part of the firm's Real Estate and Corporate Departments and will also perform work in the governmental relations area.
Beauvais focuses his practice on zoning and land use law as well as local government affairs.
He has extensive experience working with architects, engineers and real estate developers to create environmentally friendly real estate projects. Beauvais is one of the few attorneys in this region who is certified by the U.S. Green Building council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional, or “LEED® AP,” which attests to his thorough understanding of green building practices and principles.
Beauvais' background also includes extensive experience with elected officials and municipal agencies, including his having served as the legislative counsel to the Majority Leader of the Philadelphia City Council.

Beauvais’ civic activities include his appointment by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter to the position of secretary and treasurer of the Philadelphia Commercial Development Corporation, which provides low-cost loans to small businesses throughout Philadelphia. Since 2006, he has also been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Free Library of Philadelphia, and he was recently elected to the Board's executive committee as secretary. Additionally, since 2010,
Beauvais has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. Beauvais is also a former member of the Zoning Code Commission, which was created by a citywide referendum to rewrite the Zoning Code for the City of Philadelphia.
