Zarwin Attorney Wins Judicial Primary; Former Zarwin Attorney Wins Philadelphia District Attorney Primary
May 27, 2009
Roxanne Covington, a senior litigation attorney in the casualty defense practice group at the Philadelphia office of Zarwin, Baum, DeVito, Kaplan, Schaer & Toddy, was one of seven Common Pleas Court judicial candidates elected out of thirty-three for the Democratic slate for the November general election. Since Philadelphia is an overwhelmingly Democratic City with a ratio of 4.5 to 1 voters registered Democratic, Covington will most likely be elected to Common Pleas Court in the general election in November. Covington has been with Zarwin since January of 2005.
Former Zarwin, Baum attorney, Seth Williams overwhelmingly beat four candidates to win the Democratic primary for District Attorney. Williams, who started at Zarwin in February of 2003 until being appointed by the Mayor to become Philadelphia’s Inspector General in November of 2005, was a civil and criminal litigator in the firm’s litigation practice group. Like Covington, due to the Democratic majority of Democratic voters, Williams will most likely be elected to Philadelphia’s top prosecutorial post in the November general election.
