Zarwin Baum Makes a Slam-dunk with 13th Annual Zarwin Baum March Madness, Raising Nearly $200,000 for Philabundance to Date

March 19, 2015

Where were you on March 19 when LSU dropped that heartbreaker to N.C. State in the opening round of this year’s NCAA Tournament? The region’s leading business executives, media personalities, and Mayoral and City Council hopefuls were joining Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy, P.C. as they raised money for Philabundance during the nine hour, 13th annual Zarwin Baum March Madness! Since adding the charity component to this event in 2010, Zarwin Baum has raised almost $200,000 for the organization.
Throughout the course of the day, over 2000 guests were in attendance alongside Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin; comedian and TV personality Joe Conklin; PA Senator and Zarwin Baum Of Counsel Larry Farnese; Councilwoman at-Large Blondell Reynolds Brown, Councilwoman Cindy Bass and Councilman Mark Squilla; Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams; Mayoral candidates Lynne Abraham and Jim F. Kenney; City Council candidates, developer Allan Domb, Derek Green, and Paul Steinke; FOX29 Good Day Philadelphia co-anchors Mike Jerrick, Alex Holley and Chris Murphy; and Comcast Sportsnet anchor Marshall Harris. Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled day of pop-a-shot basketball games, a beer garden, and bites from Bank & Bourbon, Smith’s, and Chef Chip Roman’s The Treemont and Tradestone Confections, while 9 hours of non-stop NCAA game-day coverage played on projection screens.
Since adding the charitable component in 2010, Zarwin Baum has raised nearly $200,000 for Philabundance’s non-profit grocery store, Fare & Square. Located in Chester, Pennsylvania, Fare & Square provides the city’s residents with access to nutritious food essentials and fresh produce, at everyday low pricing.
“We are tremendously humbled by the support we have received for Zarwin Baum March Madness,” said Mitchell Kaplan, managing shareholder of Zarwin Baum. “With this event, we are able to have a greater impact on the lives of those individuals and families who depend on Philabundance and Fare & Square for quality food.”
