Norman Zarwin presents the 'Nice Touch Award' at the Greater Philadelpia Hotel Association 2009 Scholoarship & The Heart of Philadelphia Annual AwardsLuncheon to Paul Steinke, General Manager of the Reading Terminal Market. The merchants and staff of the Reading Terminal Market raised $805 to donate to Renee Waring of Manchester, PA, who lost two computers when her car was broken into while visiting Philadelphia over the Labor Day weekend (Letters to the Editor, September 15th). The Market family felt bad that a person who clearly loves visiting our city, and this market, so much was victimized by this random criminal act. They wanted to send a message to Ms. Waring and her family that the good people in Philadelphia far outnumber the bad apples.
The Nice Touch Award is awarded to a person or organization in the hospitality industry (not employed by a hotel) that best exemplifies the welcoming spirit of Philadelphia and has gone above and beyond the daily call of duty, on specific occasions, to make Philadelphia a memorable destination.
