Gary DeVito Appointed to the Board of the American Liver Foundation

Zarwin Baum shareholder Gary A. DeVito has been appointed to the board of the American Liver Foundation, Mid-Atlantic Division (ALF Mid-Atlantic), and will serve as Board President. As a board member, Gary will provide legal and professional expertise and work to advance the mission of ALF Mid-Atlantic, serving patients, families, and medical professionals in Central/Eastern Pennsylvania, Central/Southern New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.

Gary serves as chair of Zarwin Baum’s Business Practice Group which specializes in commercial litigation and has many disciplines including litigation, real estate, banking, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning and corporate governance.  Gary has extensive litigation experience in the areas of banking, real estate, employment, corporate governance, partnership disputes, along with construction.

In addition to this recent appointment, Gary serves on the Business Advisory Boards of Rosemont College and Bryn Mawr Trust, the Board of Directors for the Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS), and the Board of Directors of the Marian Anderson Award. Gary is further active in the community as the co-founder of the Fresh Smiles Foundation – a nonprofit organization that helps underprivileged children with special talents, skills, or interests pursue their dreams.

From 2005 to present, Gary has been named one of Pennsylvania’s “Super Lawyers,” by Philadelphia Magazine. Gary received his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Temple University School of Law, where he graduated with honors. He is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Associations as well as the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. Additionally, Gary serves as a Judge Pro Tem in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, both Civil Division and Commerce Court.

As a nationwide network of staff and volunteers, ALF provides awareness, outreach, education and patient support services to educate the public about liver health and to improve the lives of individuals and their families affected by liver disease.
