Charity Denim Day Supports One Day At A Time (ODAAT)
April 15, 2016
Zarwin Baum's April Denim Day will support One Day At A Time (ODAAT), a faith-based non-profit organization located in North Philadelphia. ODAAT is dedicated to serving low-income and homeless individuals in the Philadelphia area who are afflicted by addiction and HIV/AIDS. The organization's focus is on providing peer support and promoting healthy, positive lifestyles utilizing a peer-based/community-based recovery model and support system.
Founded in 1983 by Reverend Henry T. Wells, ODAAT began as a residential peer counseling and substance abuse recovery support program. Today, ODAAT provides housing supports, peer support and mentoring, reunification case management, HIV prevention outreach and rapid HIV testing, HIV/AIDS medical case management, open Wi-Fi and computers for career development, and a growing food bank for HIV+ consumers servicing over 300 clients per month. More specifically, they provide housing for homeless individuals experiencing mental health challenges and struggling with addiction, transitional housing facilities, and adjudicated recovery housing for men and women.
