Zarwin Baum attorneys have a comprehensive understanding and breadth of experience in defending claims arising from the sale and service of alcohol. Our Liquor Liability department is regularly retained by insurance carriers and third party administrators who provide coverage to bars, taverns and restaurants serving liquor.
In addition to being regularly retained by liquor liability insurance carriers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Zarwin Baum serves as National liquor counsel for an indemnity company evaluating, managing and defending catastrophic dram shop claims across the country. The team is routinely retained pre-suit to coordinate critical aspects of the investigation often ignored by local law enforcement. The firm has a national footprint in liquor claims, which allows us to retain and work with the finest team of accident investigators, toxicologists, accident reconstruction experts and forensic medical personnel to defend these cases.
Many of the members of Zarwin’s Liquor Liability Practice Group are TIPs trained and certified. The team is highly experienced in evaluating video surveillance evidence used in most bar and restaurants and has encountered critical issues involving spoliation allegations brought by aggressive plaintiff attorneys. When available and to support the defense of a liquor claim, we often retain experienced law enforcement personnel trained in field sobriety testing to evaluate video surveillance data of alleged visibly intoxicated patrons.
While our attorneys actively pursue negotiation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution to achieve cost effective results, we are not shy at proceeding to trial where the demands of the plaintiff are excessive. At the heart of this group’s ability to defend liquor claims is a commitment to an aggressive, no-holds-barred litigation style designed to place clients in the best negotiation position to achieve a favorable result. In court, the Liquor Liability Defense Practice Group is comprised of resourceful, battle-tested litigators who employ cutting-edge technology to achieve the highest likelihood for success.
This team is uniquely qualified to handle liquor liability claims because in many instances, we handled the appellate case that created the law.
