Darwin Beauvais Secures Initial Approval for Schuylkill Yards Development for Brandywine Realty Trust
January 30, 2017
Darwin Beauvais, shareholder and Co-chair of the Land Use and Zoning Department recently represented Brandywine Realty Trust in securing initial approval for Schuylkill Yards Development.
On January 17, 2017, the Philadelphia Planning Commission approved two zoning bills necessary for Brandywine Realty Trust to develop the 14-acre mixed use master planned innovation community, estimated to cost $3.5 billion over a 15 to 20 year period. One of the bills will rezone 3 parcels for a total of 2.7 acres from industrial to commercial mixed use. The other bill creates a zoning overlay allowing for an electronic media screen and for parking structures and loading areas to service more than one building thereby increasing connectivity between the buildings.
The first phase of the project will entail reimagining the former Bulletin Building and converting its parking lot to an iconic public square.
