Zarwin Baum Co-Founder to Continue Serving as Honorary Consul General to the Republic of Korea Until 2021
The U.S. State Department and the Government of Seoul, Korea have extended the appointment of E. Harris Baum, founding member of Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy, P.C., as Honorary Consul General to the Republic of Korea. Baum will continue to serve in this role until 2021.
Baum was first appointed to the position in 2006, after being active in Korean community affairs throughout the Greater Philadelphia region for many years, and working to position the inclusion of this group in the local business and political process. In 2011, Baum had the honor of representing the United States as a delegate at The International Conference of Honorary Consul Generals for the Republic of Korea, in Seoul, Korea. He was one of just 20 delegates selected from around the world.
As Honorary Consul General, Baum acts as a liaison for government and business delegations with the New York General Consul, Korean Embassy in Washington D.C., and the Pennsylvania Korean community. He is involved in every political facet of Korean-American life, facilitating economic, education, and cultural exchanges between South Korea and Pennsylvania. Baum also works to protect the interests of Korean citizens and support the Korean diaspora community and organizations at large.
“It is my distinct honor and privilege to continue serving the great people and businesses of Korea and the Korean American community,” said Baum. “The extension of my appointment is affirmation of a job well done, but also an indicator that there is still much to do in creating meaningful collaboration and integration of Korean participation in business and politics. I am dedicated to furthering programs that spur economic growth and job opportunities between our two great nations.”
At Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy, P.C., Baum represents a number of Korean American businesses, as well as social and religious organizations throughout the Delaware Valley Area. His extensive service, which spans decades, assists in building successful programs to further cooperation between Korean and Pennsylvania businesses for mutual expansion of their markets.
