Zarwin Baum Hosts Breakfast Seminar on Data Security and Privacy

February 23, 2016

WHAT: This month, Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy, P.C. continues its ongoing breakfast series with a conversation on data security and privacy, titled “Cyber Armageddon - Business Vulnerabilities & Data Breaches.”

Attendees will hear from four (4) expert cyber security and privacy professionals regarding the vital precautionary measures businesses of all sizes must take in order to be protected from crippling cyber claims. Speakers will cover:

  • Implications and risks of data security breaches for business professionals
  • The gravity of cyber security threats to your business
  • Privacy compliance (legal and ethical regulatory responsibilities)
  • Insurance protection for privacy breaches, third party claims, and mandatory notification/credit monitoring costs
  • Best practices on data breach preparedness and responses

WHY: As reported in the Global State of Information Security Survey 2016, conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, businesses reported detecting 38% more security incidents in 2015, than in 2014; and theft of ‘hard’ intellectual property increased by 56%. Although employees were still the most cited source of compromise, incidents attributed to business partners rose 22%. And while large-scale security breaches involving national companies take precedence in mainstream news, more than 60% of all cyber-attacks affect small-to-mid-size businesses.
