Zarwin Baum Celebrates March Madness By Raising $35,000 for Philabundance’s Fare & Square

March 18, 2016

On Thursday, March 17, as teams like Yale, Wichita State and Gonzaga advanced and broke records in this year’s NCAA Tournament, Philadelphia law firm Zarwin Baum with the help of more than 2,000 guests, raised $35,000 for Philabundance at the 14h Annual Zarwin Baum March Madness.
Attendees and special guests enjoyed networking with many of the region’s most influential leaders and executives while watching nine (9) full hours of live action NCAA tournament games and coverage at the Crystal Tea Room. The day’s festivities included locally-inspired gourmet dishes, pop-a-shot basketball games, a silent auction, live painting from artist Perry Milou, and, the crowd favorite ‘Man Cave’ - a room complete with leather couches and full size arcade games.  Notable attendees included Philadelphia Eagles Safety Malcolm Jenkins, Senator Vincent Hughes, Senator Larry Farnese, Sheriff Jewell Williams, District Attorney Seth Williams, Councilman Curtis Jones, Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown, Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez, comedian Joe Conklin, and media personality Jen Daniels of Comcast Sportsnet.
The annual Zarwin Baum March Madness supports the work of Philabundance, the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley - and, specifically, its nonprofit food distribution and grocery store, Fare & Square, located in Chester PA. Fare & Square provide residents in the City of Chester with access to nutritious food essentials including fresh produce, meats, dairy, seafood, and frozen meals. With the addition of this year’s donation, Zarwin Baum has raised nearly $250,000 for the organization to date.
“Each year, the Greater Philadelphia region provides an outpouring of support for our annual March Madness event,” said Zarwin Baum managing shareholder Mitchell Kaplan. “Zarwin Baum clients and friends of firm welcome the opportunity to leave the office for a few hours to network, enjoy the games, and, just as important, support such a great organization. As a firm, we are happy to use the momentum of March Madness to assist Philabundance in its efforts to remedy hunger, locally.”
